Sheep with lamb on snowy Dartmoor

About

My affinity for animals and art began in childhood. Growing up in rural Wales I spent much of my time with horses, many happy days working on the neighbouring farm and I was always drawing. I went on to gain a BA Hons in Fine Art at Leeds Polytechnic and then off at a tangent to do an M.A in South Asian Studies at SOAS and live in Switzerland for 10 years.

I  moved with my family in 2006 to a creative community in Devon, surrounded by a rich diversity of animal life and the beauty of the moorland, so it felt quite natural to begin drawing again and to rediscover my love of printmaking. I work from my studio at home.

I enjoy the process of drawing, carving the plate with the lino tools and 'the reveal' as I lift the paper off the plate after it has been through the press for the first time.

I also enjoy experimenting with other forms of printmaking, such as collagraph and monoprinting and I sometimes alternate printmaking with charcoal drawing and pastel as a way of loosening up after the tighter control of linoprinting.
